| As part of SeaWorld and Anheuser-Busch's "Here's to the Heroes" salute to U.S. armed forces, Sailors and Marines from the USS Bonhomme Richard - more than 3,000 miles across the sea in the middle of the Pacific Ocean - received an early homecoming. During their return to San Diego afer a six-month deployment to the Indian Ocean, Persian Gulf and Iraq, a handful of lucky crewmembers said hello to their loved ones and met their newborns for the first time via a live broadcast transmission from the ship to Shamu Stadium. During the special broadcast, these new dads also gave Shamu the killer whale behavior signals from the open ocean. The ship and crew returned to Naval Station San Diego on Monday, June 6, 2005. |
