Students
at Ontiveros Elementary School in Santa Maria, California, went from
no recycling to 80% recycling of school discards, all through the efforts
of dedicated students and teachers. Students also carried the recycling
program out to the community in their innovative Kids
Can Teach Kids About the Environment Too! campaign. Inspire your students with their story. Their hard work received
first prize in the Environmental Outreach category in the
SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Environmental Excellence Awards given for 2000.
Teaching
about the environment is not always easy. Do you know a teacher whos
figured out a unique way to inspire students, communicate concepts,
or encourage exploration? What about a school that has dedicated itself
to a project? We want to hear about them. Use our easy
entry form to
nominate your favorite school or teacher.

COMING
NEXT MONTH
|
It’s
time to fly to summer places so next month we take to the
skies and highlight migrating birds. Our May LAND, SEA, &
AIR MAIL explores the fascinating story of how birds get from
here to there, sometimes in trips of a thousand miles or more.
