In this romantic month of February, people are not the only ones
bitten by the love bug. With winter waning and spring just around
the corner, many northern hemisphere animals are preparing for
new arrivals. SeaWorld and Busch Gardens lend a hand when it comes
to some endangered species.

Students
at Edgewood Regional Senior High School
in Atco, New Jersey took steps to help preserve the nearby 1-million-acre
Pinelands reserve by creating the Pinelands Nature Center at their school.
Their hard work received first prize in the "Last Great Places"
award in SeaWorld/Busch Gardens Environmental Excellence Awards 2000.
Teaching
about the environment is not always easy. Do you know a teacher whos
figured out a unique way to inspire students, communicate concepts,
or encourage exploration? What about a school that has dedicated itself

January
2001 marks the start of the International
Biodiversity Observation Year. Scientists have committed to make
this year and 2002 breakthrough years in promoting research and dramatically
increasing communication about biodiversity and its links to human welfare.
