Southern Leopard Frog
Rana utricularia

Description:
Medium-sized frog (up to 3.15") with gold eyes.  Back is variable in color from light brown to dark green.  Back has rows of spots that extend laterally.   Two distinct lateral ridges, which are usually yellow, extend from the eye nearly to the groin.
Similar Species:
Gopher frogs' spots are not in rows.  No other frogs in the region have lateral ridges and no other frogs have anything but faint spots or none at all.

Description:
Medium-sized, short, squat frog (up to 4.33").  Dusky gray with scattering of black spots.  Bronze to brownish ridges along side of back. Pudgy body.
Similar Species:
Leopard frogs have slender bodies and snouts, and have large dark spots on the back.

Description:
Florida's largest frog (up to 8").  Dark olive green with yellow to cream throat.  Head may be brighter.  Underside is white with mottled black.  No lateral ridges and the webbing of hind toes does not extend to the toe tips.
Similar Species:
Bronze frogs have lateral ridges.  River frogs have white spots on lips and a dark throat.  Pig frogs have webbing that extends to the tips of all toes on hind feet.
