Dear Dustin, Thank you for your interesting question about migratory birds. There are occasions when birds get confused for some reason and migrate to their spring/summer ranges too early. Whether they will survive or not depends on a lot of factors. If the winter isn't too severe or if there are still enough food resources, they may survive. But if the winter lasts a long time, is really cold or snowy, or there isn't enough food yet, they may not. Fortunately, most birds don't often misjudge their migration times.
