The disease you are asking about occurs primarily in green sea turtles. It is called fibropapilloma. The reason for the disease and its cure are still being studied. There is key research being conducted at the veterinary school at the University of Florida at Gainesville. Fibropapilloma can cause the death of a sea turtle.
