| Aquademics is a hands-on/minds-on enrichment
opportunity that brings learning to life for children, whether they are sitting in the
classroom or gathered with family members around the aquarium in the living room. After reviewing the material included in this Aquademics Parent and Teacher's Guide, you might be surprised to discover that aquarium education touches on almost every subject currently being taught within the required curriculum for upper elementary grades: Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Ecology, Creative Writing and more. The lesson plans and worksheets in this Aqudemics Parent and Teacher's Guide were created to complement the standards of learning that determine a student's basic knowledge and skills at the fourth and fifth grade levels. The entire text is approved and endorsed by Tetra's partner aquariums and SeaWorld Adventure Parks located across the country: The National Aquarium in Baltimore; The John. G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago; The New England Aquarium in Boston; The Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans; The Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi; The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga; The Florida Aquarium in Tampa; SeaWorld Cleveland; SeaWorld Orlando; SeaWorld San Antonio and SeaWorld San Diego. There's more information about these wonderful aquariums as well as an exciting virtual aquarium on Tetra's Web site www.tetra-fish.com. If you are a parent, the lesson plans in this Aquademics Parent and Teacher's Guide can easily be adapted for use with a home aquarium. We think you'll find that a home aquarium is a great family activity, one that brings everyone together. For teachers, the lesson plans feature many interactive elements that make learning lots of fun. Most of the projects can be completed in one hour or less. However, a few of the science experiments will take a little longer. Whether you are using these materials at home or at school, Aquademics is an enriching experience that your children and students will remember for a lifetime! On behalf of Tetra, along with our retail and aquarium partners nationwide, thank you for your interest in the Aquademics aquarium education program. Kevin B. Brenner |
